The DuPage Cycling Foundation (DCF) is an Illinois 501©(3) corporation established to raise funds for community non-profits primarily in Greater DuPage County, through the hosting and promotion of cycling-related events. The DuPage Cycling Foundation prioritizes non-profits whose missions support the enrichment of community health and education.
The 4th annual Superior Ambulance Elmhurst Cycling Classic, scheduled for July 22nd, 2016, is the premier fundraiser of the DuPage Cycling Foundation.
Proceeds from DCF’s Elmhurst Cycling Classic event are widely distributed to area charities. The event has thus far succeeded in donating nearly $35,000. Past beneficiaries have included the Elmhurst Walk In Assistance Network (formerly known as the Elmhurst Walk In Ministry), United Community Concerns, Yorkfield Food Pantry, People’s Resource Center, Elmhurst Children’s Assistance Foundation, District 205 Foundation, Family Shelter Services, The Big Marsh Project, The Active Transportation Alliance, Elmhurst Memorial Hospital Foundation, Ride Illinois, Kick Off For Kids, Spirito! Singers, People for Elmhurst Parks, West Town Bikes, and more.
The DuPage Cycling Foundation’s board of directors, chaired by Elmhurst Masters Competition Cycling (EMC2) racer Rob Hocking of Downers Grove, includes Vice President Erin Radcliff, Treasurer Kevin York, EMC2 racers Tim Radcliff, Tom Ferguson, Gus Rosada, Jostein Alvestad & Sarah Alvestad; Alli Ferguson, and Donald J. Storino.
“Using bike riding and racing to raise dollars for area charities was a natural extension of what we love to do” said Board President Rob Hocking. “We’ve spent over 3 years of developing the Elmhurst Cycling Classic into a fantastic community event with a charitable impact, laying the groundwork for growing and expanding our use of cycling for philanthropy.”
