Churches & Cemeteries

Q: Who designed Redeemer Lutheran Church?
A:
Roy J. Hotchkiss of Oak Park was the architect and Edgar Hanebuth of Elmhurst was the associate architect for Redeemer Lutheran Church located at 345 S. Kenilworth Avenue (pictured at right).

Q: I've noticed a very small cemetery on Poplar Avenue, just south of St. Charles Road in Elmhurst. Who is buried there?
A:
Early settlers Adam and Katharina Glos owned a farm in this area now known as Crescent Park. They are buried in this small plot of land, along with a few of their children. (Note: Adam and Katharina were parents of Henry Glos, original owner of the Glos Mansion and current home of Elmhurst Historical Museum. Henry and his wife Lucy, however, are not buried in the Poplar Avenue cemetery. Their final resting place is in the Glos Mausoleum located across from the Glos Mansion).
