Marion Mahony Griffin was much more than a talented artist and architect: she was the backbone of the Prairie School of Architecture who brought the work of many more famous architects to life -- including her husband, Walter Burley Griffin, and the inimitable genius Frank Lloyd Wright. Her often uncredited work includes detailed, sumptuous renderings of such masterpieces as Fallingwater, Unity Temple, the Plan for Canberra, and many more. Griffin deserves recognition in her own right as the second woman to receive an architecture degree from MIT, the first woman architect registered in Illinois, and a pioneer in a field where few women dared to tread. This biographical exhibit explores her life, her work, and her legacy. Elmhurst History Museum – FREE elmhursthistory.org or 630-833-1457
