The Disco Invasion in Films of the ‘70s
Just as the British Invasion changed the pop music landscape in the 1960s, the Disco Invasion a decade later had an enormous impact on American culture, including the movies. Peter Hawley presents a lecture that will contextualize the Disco Invasion, and investigate the influence of the genre on Hollywood films of the 1970s including Saturday Night Fever, Thank God It's Friday, Boogie Nights and more. Hawley has been a filmmaker and college educator for more than 20 years and was the founding chair of the film program at Tribeca Flashpoint College, where he was named Dean in 2014.
