ELMHURST, Ill. – The Elmhurst History Museum is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. David Oberg to the position of Museum Director. Oberg will provide leadership and management for the Elmhurst History Museum, handling all aspects of daily operations and directing the professional and administrative staff. He will also work closely with the board of the Elmhurst Heritage Foundation, the 501c3 non-profit organization that supports the Elmhurst History Museum and Churchville Schoolhouse. Additionally, Oberg will serve as a department director for the City of Elmhurst.

Mr. Oberg is a museum professional with 27 years of experience in the museum field including 11 years as an Executive Director. He is the former Executive Director of the Grayslake Heritage Center and Museum, and has served as a past President of the Illinois Association of Museums (IAM) as well as officer or trustee roles on numerous boards throughout his career. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in History and Political Science and a Master of Arts in History from Northern Illinois University. 

Oberg assumes this leadership position at the Elmhurst History Museum as of November 15, 2017, taking over a role that was vacated by the retirement of Brian Bergheger in early October. Oberg states, “I am excited at the prospect of working with the board, staff and volunteers to take the museum into new territory and to continue building bridges in the community.”
