Celebrate the 23rd Annual Museum Day in Elmhurst, a special event commemorating the important cultural value of museums to communities worldwide. Jump on board the Explore Elmhurst trolley to visit three Elmhurst museums for free admission, family-friendly activities, exhibit tours, refreshments and more. Activities include:
Elmhurst History Museum: Explore the new “Worlds of Wonder: Remembering Chicagoland’s Amusement Parks” exhibit inside the Glos Mansion and participate in amusement park-themed crafts and activities on the museum grounds (weather permitting). Complimentary face painting, lemonade, and cookies.
Elmhurst Art Museum: Participate in a hands-on art activity and view the exhibits “With a Capital P: Selections by Six Painters” and “Luftwerk: Parallel Perspectives” in this award-winning contemporary art museum located in a rare residence designed by Mies van der Rohe.
Lizzadro Museum of Lapidary Art: Tour the museum’s expansive collection of jade carvings, gems, and more. See the “Rock Café,” an exhibit with three meals made of stone, and join a stone hunt to collect rocks, minerals and fossils to take home.
