Worlds of Wonder: Remembering Chicagoland's Amusement Parks

Closing August 18, 2019

Chicago has had its share of jaw-dropping, awe-inspiring amusement parks, from the rotations of the first Ferris wheel at the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition to the ups-and-downs of the Bobs at Riverview. Celebrate Chicago’s favorite destinations for fun and thrills, from early trolley parks to mid-century suburban attractions like Kiddieland, Santa’s Village, and Dispensa’s Kiddie Kingdom. Learn about the signature rides and iconic venues through rare photos and video, memorabilia, and fascinating artifacts including a 1920s hand-painted “freak show” mural from Riverview. Interactive family-friendly stations include a Skee-Ball game, marble roller coaster track, virtual reality roller coaster experience, photo booth and more.
