‘Lessons from My Journey Co-founding the Malala Fund to NOW,’ with Shiza Shahid

ELMHURST, Ill., Thursday, Sept. 12, 2019—An entrepreneur and impact leader, Shiza Shahid co-founded the Malala Fund in 2013 with Nobel Prize winner and activist Malala Yousafzai to create access to high-quality education for children all around the world.

On Thursday, Oct. 3, Shahid will present “The Extraordinary Impact We Can Create: Lessons from My Journey Co-founding the Malala Fund to NOW,” part of the Roland Quest Lecture Series at Elmhurst College.

During her talk, Shahid will describe her work with Malala, her funding platform NOW Ventures (which invests in mission-driven startups), her struggle to create social change, and how ordinary people can make extraordinary waves.

“The Extraordinary Impact We Can Create” begins at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 3, in Hammerschmidt Memorial Chapel (190 Prospect Ave., Elmhurst, elmhurst.edu/campusmap). This lecture is offered in partnership with the Elmhurst History Museum exhibit “The Power of Children: Making a Difference.” The exhibit tells the extraordinary stories of three children—Anne Frank, Ruby Bridges and Ryan White—who used the power of words, action and voice to make a positive difference in the world.
